We are averse to herald the arrival of spring as our fingers have been meteorologically burnt in the past, but it is April, the evenings are lighter and the sun is shining which is reason enough to celebrate.  With this comes a nesting instinct that sorts the old from the new, the fresh from the slightly stale.  There is no better way to brush off the cold weather cobwebs than with a striking design injection from The Conran Shop.  Offering an unrivalled edit from leading worldwide names and new pieces from emerging designers, we are proud to house a broad collection that blends authentic, timeless icons with up and coming innovations.  Today we highlight four of the brands we love and take a look at their new additions to The Conran Shop.

Russell Pinch Lyle Console table, £1,995

Husband and wife duo Russell Pinch and Oona Bannon collaborated to form Pinch Design in 2004.  Combining timeless style with sensitivity to materials, each graceful piece of furniture is beautifully crafted and deserving of investment.  Their solid walnut console table has a honed limestone top and makes a worthy addition to any interior.

Thomas Heatherwick Spun chair, £360

Award winning designer Thomas Heatherwick has a spectrum that spans product design, architecture, art, landscape and sculpture.  His most notable works include the Olympic Cauldron for the 2012 London Games, and the beautiful East Beach Cafe in Littlehampton.  His Spun chair is a feat in engineering, using industrial metal spinning techniques to lend innovation to an everyday seat.  Available exclusively at The Conran Shop in yellow and green.

Muller Van Severen Rack and Seat, £4,295

A relatively new name in the furniture industry, Muller Van Severen is the combined vision of photographer Fien Muller and artist Hannes Van Severen.  Launched in 2011, they have quickly risen to fame and have been nominated in the furniture sector at the Design Museum Awards (March 20th – July 7th 2013).  This shelf and seat combo is an excellent example of their pioneering, minimalist take on modern day living.

Hans J Wegner, Wishbone chair Light blue, £564

The late Danish designer Hans J Wegner, is considered one of the leading figures in 20th century furniture design.  As the ‘master chair-maker’, he designed over 500 chairs during the course of his life and his works are exhibited at major international museums.  Designed in 1949, the wishbone chair represents his deep respect for carpentry and a love of natural materials.  Available in a range of colours here.

There you have it, a little glimpse of what we love this week.  With the spring season upon us and regular updates arriving weekly, make sure you check out more of what’s new online at The Conran Shop.
